Due to the poor blood supply to the <strong>metatarsal bones<\/strong>, <strong>healing and immobilization<\/strong> of the <strong>Jones fracture<\/strong> may well take longer. In conservative therapy, the foot is initially immobilized in a plaster shoe for 6 weeks. The patient is usually allowed to put full weight on the foot. After removal of the cast, the <strong>Jones fracture<\/strong> must be supported with fixative dressings until the fracture is completely healed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The operation of the Jones fracture<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Jones fracture<\/strong> is <strong>treated surgically<\/strong> if the fracture is displaced by more than 5 millimeters. Screws made from human bone are usually used.
